SC - To what do you attribute the recent surge in sales of your book 5/5/2000 Ice: The Ultimate Disaster? RN - The title. SC - You're joking. RN - Yes and no. I researched the material for seven years, wrote the book and then titled it on a date 14 years in the future. The first several publishers interested in the manuscript stated that the title, based on a date so far away in the future would not grab the general public's interest. "Let's change it, to this or that", they suggested. I told them the title would grab those it was meant to grab at that time and many more later. However, they said we are the publisher, we do know best and if you want an advance and your book published you will change the title so we can make money now. SC - How did you respond? RN - I invited them to visit the place of eternal damnation. SC - Well, your book is now published by Harmony Books, a giant New York publishing house. But what's between the book's covers, your research, must actually be the reason for continued sales, as we approach the end of the millennium. RN - You're right. The accuracy of what you've written, your research, must be able to stand the test of time and continually, year after year, not only be confirmed, but be of ever increasing interest to the reader. I, of course, was very lucky that my manuscript was seen and read by Mr. Chip Gibson at Crown, who had the clairvoyance to see its future possibilities. SC - Recently, Enter Darkness: Enter Light, a video documentary almost two hours long based on your book was produced. It has interviews from world renowned scientists, futurists, architects, astronomers, and scholars of different disciplines who state publicly the accuracy of your research. With a hot-selling book and a chilling video about your book, bombarded with talk-show interviews and requests for lectures, how do you feel now with success? RN - It's sometimes exhaustive, but it is good to know after all this time that the information is becoming more accessible to the general public. That makes me happy.
